I share with my father the joy of reading.
Ever since I was a little girl I remember spending hours reading to him before his naps, and as years went by we continued sharing books and whimsical stories to one another and each birthday or holiday I would give him books.
His favorite novels were full of fantasy, dragons, new worlds and heroes, but one of his dearest book series till this day is “His Dark Materials” by Philip Pullman, I remember enjoying it when I was very young and every time I finished a book from the saga I would give it to him. Because I already knew the story, it felt like torture for me to keep to myself what happens in each chapter. I must admit that sometimes a thing or two would slip from my mouth, spoiling the story for him. But he never got annoyed by that. He just laughed and continued reading.
A few months ago It came to my knowledge that there would be a new TV series based on the books, and all these memories with my dad came to my mind. I got so happy and shared the news with him, he had just read the prequel, so the story was fresh on his mind. We’re really enjoying the series right now and I had to make an illustration about it. So I decided to welcome 2020 with Iorek, Lyra and the first post of my blog.
Happy New Year to any lost soul that’s reading this! 🙂
